22/2/10 - Successful test for Hicky at Cartagena
‘Hicky’ and the Ultimate Racing Team have completed a successful test at Cartagena in Spain this weekend. The weather was a bit hit and miss at times but the team managed to get out on everyday of the four day test.
Using the team sponsors’, Robert Butt, bike on day one with a standard engine to learn the circuit, Peter and the team were eager to try some new parts on the number one bike the next day.
The following day however was marred by rain for most of the day until about 4pm when some of the riders on the Bitubo Suspension test decided to do a few steady laps. Peter managed around 15 laps on the number one bike and the first impressions of the new parts was good.
The next day was warm and sunny and the team looked forward to some good testing. Unfortunately after the first session on circuit Peter made a small mistake on his in lap, to which the team will make sure he will never forget, and slid off at the first turn. The bike wasn’t too badly damaged and the team got the bike back out in the afternoon. Hicky got to grips with the bike and was turning in some good lap times and was very happy with how things had gone.
The final day was also wet to start with until around lunch time when the sun shone down and dried the circuit. Hicky and the team were making quite a few changes to the bike and ended up with a set up that everyone was happy with and the lap times showed. Now the team is heading home to develop more on what they have learned at the test in preperation for the start of the season.
Many thanks to Darren Jones and Robert Butt for all their help during the test.
We will be back soon with more news, photos and videos!!!
